Hello everyone!

It’s been a little over a year since Better Off’s first release so this update feels long overdue. Unfortunately, I’m not as far along as I would like to be, but the friendship and romance scenes with Maria have turned out to be a lot more work than I anticipated.

The addition of those scenes has nearly doubled the game’s size, since we went from 45k to 89k words. So it’s about 44k words of new content added to the game, plus the 2k words bonus story I released on Patreon early last year.

I also decided to code a light-mode version of the game as a last-minute addition. I hope you’ll like it and that it’ll make the game easier to read for some people.

You'll have to start over the story, but of course most of the new content is at the beginning of the story anyway!

The update includes:

    • The friendship and romance scenes with Maria
    • A few variations throughout the story and some tweaking
    • A bonus story accessible through the + sign after selecting your character name
    • A light mode accessible through the settings (the little cog at the bottom of the page)
